Some dental practices have copper piping that can compromise the use of some disinfectants such as silver. If you have copper piping you may want to test for this before using a disinfectant or after continuously failing the 500 CFU/ml guideline. The U.S. EPA’s maximum contaminant level goal (MCLG) for copper is 1.3mg/L.
Fluoride a naturally occurring mineral in water that, at the optimal level, can be beneficial to patient’s teeth. The U.S. Public Health Service recommends an optimal fluoride concentration of 0.7mg/L. Too much fluoride, though, can cause tooth decay and brown discoloration.
